Learning and Laughter: A Podcast Workshop With Jack and Jill

This past weekend, The Neighborhood Bridge had the joy of hosting a lively podcast workshop with the Lake Shore Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Our Executive Director, Prentice Butler, described the young participants as his “toughest audience yet.” The kids came ready with big personalities and even bigger opinions — diving into topics like Bluey, fast cars, dinosaurs, and chocolate ice cream.

Throughout the day, there were spontaneous “press conferences,” surprise interruptions for extra airtime, and a few moments where participants insisted their “agent” (also known as Mom) approve their comments before recording. Despite the playful chaos, the workshop was full of creativity, laughter, and learning.

Workshops like this remind us how powerful youth voices can be when given a platform — and how important it is to create spaces where curiosity, confidence, and community intersect.

A huge thank-you to Estrelitta Harmon, an IMPACT colleague of Prentice’s, for inviting The Neighborhood Bridge to lead this experience, and to the Lake Shore Chapter of Jack and Jill of America for their continued commitment to empowering and uplifting African-American youth through education and cultural enrichment.
